South Warwickshire Local Plan

The Regulation 19 version of the Plan was published on 18th May 2026. This is a draft of the District Councils' submission to the Secretary of State for examination in Public next year, and although subject to the statutory six-week consultation period, is unlikely to be significantly altered.

A New Settlement at Hatton with 4,000 to 5,250 dwellings on the Arkwright land is included. The other parcels of land in the 'Preferred Options' version (land either side of Hatton Green, north of Hatton Hill and north of Hatton Park) are not included at this stage.

Proposed Site Plan

The legality and soundness of this document have already been called into question and it is likely the consultation period scheduled to commence on 9th June will be delayed until mid to late July while the Planning Authorities address the problems identified.

'Keep Hatton Station Rural' (KHSR) is a very well-resourced organisation which has scrutinised the viability of the Hatton site in detail, and has found that on many grounds it is unlikely to withstand examination by the Inspectorate, and inclusion of this site could thus jeopardise the Plan as a whole.

KHSR will, with expert professional support, prepare a response to the Regulation 19 version of the Plan (which will be passed to the Inspectorate) and it is the intention of Hatton Parish Council, after due process, to endorse this submission, adding any further points specific to Hatton Parish. Residents are advised to follow the development of the SWLP; inclusion of the Arkwright site would have a massive impact on the Parish, and on our neighbouring communities.  The best source of information is the KHSR website: Keep Hatton Station Rural This site includes links to other relevant sources.

This site will be updated at the end of the consultation period, when the submission we propose to endorse will be available.

During 2025 the Parish Council submitted the following:
